Pokemon Astral Red (Gameboy Advance GBA)

In this version of the Kanto region of Pokemon Astral Red, all of the Pokémon have been replaced due to a mysterious dimensional shift that no one seems to acknowledge. Other than that, it’s your typical Fire Red adventure, complete with a functional (and mostly untouched) post-game.

Features:

  • New PokĂ©mon Roster: All PokĂ©mon exclusive to Procyon and Deneb have replaced the original Kanto PokĂ©mon, with the exception of Drowzee and Hypno. To complete the Dex, additional Fakemon from Altair/Sirius and Vega were included.
  • English Naming: PokĂ©mon without translated names were given English names based on their appearance, description, and characteristics.
  • Balanced Variety: Just like in the official games, some PokĂ©mon are strong, some are decent, and some are just okay.
  • Authentic Sprites and Sounds: All PokĂ©mon have accurate front and back sprites, as well as matching cries.
  • Move Sets: PokĂ©mon move sets are aligned as closely as possible with those in Procyon and Deneb. While no new moves were added, some existing moves were adjusted in terms of type and damage for balance and accuracy.
  • Correct Stats and Attributes: Each PokĂ©mon has the appropriate types, stats, EV values, catch rates, base XP, growth speed, base friendship, egg groups, and heights/weights from Procyon and Deneb. For any missing values, sensible or amusing substitutes were used (there’s one particularly large fish to find!).
  • Appropriate Abilities: PokĂ©mon have the correct abilities from Procyon and Deneb, or ones that make sense given their type and characteristics if the original abilities don’t exist in Fire Red.
  • Evolution Methods: PokĂ©mon evolve as they do in Procyon and Deneb. If an evolution method isn’t present in Fire Red, it’s been adapted to something that makes the most sense. PokeDex entries now provide evolution instructions.
  • Level 42 Evolution: Any PokĂ©mon that typically evolves with a stone or through friendship will also evolve at level 42.
  • No Exclusives: All PokĂ©mon are available to be caught or obtained—no version exclusives.
  • Menu Updates: Important menus now display the correct PokĂ©mon names.
  • Trainer Overhauls: Gym Leaders and Elite Four PokĂ©mon have moves that belong to their updated rosters and match their types, so you know what to expect. Other trainers have updated moves, though not necessarily the correct PokĂ©mon for their trainer type—good luck!
  • Adjusted Locations: PokĂ©mon locations have been adjusted for logical consistency (no more fishing up cats… hopefully).
  • Map Edit: There is one singular map edit—see if you can find it.
  • Easter Eggs: A handful of secrets and easter eggs are waiting to be discovered.

Along with these features, the creator (Jeddak_Tor) has also implemented various QoL improvements into Pokemon Astral Red.
